My name is Bleotu Adina Camelia, and I am a 2nd year student at the English Linguistics Master at the University of Bucharest. I am currently writing my MA thesis, dealing with the syntax and acquisition of NN compounds in English and Romanian, in which I try to come up with an account for why NN compounds in Germanic languages are productive, whereas compounds in Romance languages are not. I would very much like to continue with a PhD in the domain of root compounds. I am also interested in the syntax of modal verbs and negation (on which I wrote my BA), and in pseudo-partitives. I attended last year’s summer school in Poznan, and I enjoyed it a lot. I would like to take part in this year’s summer school in Constanta, and I am very eager to attend all the syntax classes, especially the class dealing with the recent developments in the theory of ergativity and the nanosyntax classes. |
